Company Release - 12/13/2013 10:56

MINNEAPOLIS--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- The Tile Shop (NASDAQ:TTS), a specialty retailer of high quality, premium manufactured and natural stone tiles, has opened a new retail store in Lynbrook, N.Y., a Long Island suburb located about 23 miles east of Manhattan along the busy New York Route 27 (NY 27) corridor, which extends from Brooklyn to the far eastern point of Long Island.

The new location, the sixth retail store for The Tile Shop in New York and the third to serve Long Island’s suburbs, offers Nassau County homeowners the most comprehensive selection of 4,500 beautiful and natural stone and tile products. Other Tile Shop retail locations in New York include: Buffalo, Commack, Rochester, Scarsdale, and Westbury.

The Tile Shop’s new store is located at 831 Sunrise Highway in Lynbrook, which is where the family in the well-known, long-running TV sitcom, Everybody Loves Raymond, lived. The new Tile Shop retail store is located near the Green Acres Mall on the densely traveled Sunrise Highway corridor, which averages 46,000 vehicles per day. Other well-known major retailers located near the new Tile Shop location in Lynbrook include Target, B.J.’s Wholesale Club, Best Buy, Forever 21, H&M, American Eagle, Old Navy, and Staples.

The Tile Shop has partnered with 831 Lynbrook LLC to develop the new 19,600 sq. ft. location, which will be managed by Steve Gilerman, who joined The Tile Shop in 2011.

When Lynbrook homeowners enter the new Tile Shop retail location, they will receive the Beautiful Made Easy™ experience. This shopping experience helps homeowners find the most beautiful tile and stone and makes it as easy as possible to purchase exactly what they need to transform their homes. The Tile Shop in Lynbrook features fully decorated, room-size displays -- kitchens, baths, and other spaces within a home – completed with actual appliances as well as lighting and plumbing fixtures, that allow the homeowner to envision what their Tile Shop tile and stone will look like, installed, in their home.

The Tile Shop’s incredible offering of tile and stone is complemented with friendly and knowledgeable sales associates who are specially trained to help Long Island homeowners realize their home decorating dreams.

“The residents of Lynbrook and nearby communities expect high quality products that deliver incredible value and beauty to maintain their historic homes,” said Carl Randazzo, Senior Vice President of Retail for The Tile Shop. “There are many homes in this area that were built between the turn of the century through the 1930s. Craftsmen built these homes with a strong attention to detail. The Tile Shop can help today’s homeowners maintain that sense of quality and craftsmanship while at the same time offering their homes a fresh, contemporary look and feel that’s critical to resale value.”

“The incredibly hard-working and busy people who live in suburban New York City expect retailers to make it as easy as possible to navigate their stores,” Randazzo added. “We make the process of shopping for beautiful tile as easy as possible by stocking our new Lynbrook store with products we know will be the perfect fit for their homes.”

For Lynbrook-area homeowners who’d like to try the do-it-yourself route, The Tile Shop’s new Long Island location will offer a free, hour-long “How to Tile” workshop every Saturday morning at 9:30 a.m. Participants are offered a hands-on opportunity to learn how to set ceramic tile, natural stone tile, and mosaic tile. The workshop covers everything that’s needed to tile a floor, wall, or backsplash with either tile or natural stone, as well as how to grout, cut tile, and seal and maintain tile and natural stone. The Tile Shop also provides informational videos on how to install tile on its web site, www.tileshop.com.
